Registration Night
September 26
Registration night for Community Rec skating lessons will be held Monday, September 26 at the Prairie Island Arena conference room. The event will run from 6:00 - 7:00 pm.
The Red Wing Figure Skating Club will also be present. They will share information about their programs including the spring skating show. There will also be a skate exchange. Bring your skates that don't fit anymore and see if you can find a pair that will work this year.
Skating lessons will be held on Monday nights beginning October 17. Lessons will be held throughout the season concluding March 5. We will begin lessons at the Prairie Island rink but will also use Bergwall Arena. Beginner level skaters will skate from 6:00 - 7:00 pm. Freestyle skaters will skate from 7:15 - 8:15 pm. Amanda Truax from the Riverblades Skating School will return to again be out head pro. Each skater gets 1/2 hour of a group lesson and 1/2 hour of practice ice. Cost for the 18 session program is $200. You may register for half the year for $110.
New this year will be a hockey skating component to the lessons. We will form a hockey group and concentrate on the skating skills specific to hockey players. The USFSA Learn to Skate curriculum is used for the lessons. Contact Community Rec for more details.
