Aces Clinch #1 Seed in Home Tournament

The Red Wing12 AA Aces recorded wins over Chatfield and Burnsville and have clinched the #1 seed in pool play going into Sunday mornings game versus South St. Paul at 9 am on Sunday.   The Aces defeated Chatfield 10-6 early on Saturday morning.   The Aces then defeated Burnsville 4-3 with a walk-off base hit by Coby Castner scoring Jack Maroushek with the winning run in the bottom of the 6th inning.   The Aces trailed 3-1 in the fourth inning after coming back and tying the game in the bottom of the 4th.   A big two run single by Seth Yeatman tied the game at 3.  

Teddy Lillico pitched 3 scorless innings to start the game Grant Rolen worked himself out of trouble to keep Burnsville at 3 runs.   Jack Maroushek led off the bottom of the 6th with a walk and then immediately stole second and advanced to 3rd on a wild pitch.   That set up the heroics for Castner who delivered with a chopper over the mound to bring in Maroushek with the winning run and guarantee the Aces the #1 overall seed in their pool.  

Zach Harding and Teddy Tauer led the way versus Chatfield both collecting two hits and scoring and two runs.  Tauer also pitched 2 innings not giving up a hit.   The Aces are now 5-1 overall on the season and will fact S. St.. Paul on Sunday morning.   That game will be followed by a bracket game to have an opportunity to advance to the MBT State Tournament at 1:30.  

 

 

Aces Bats Come Alive in Victory Over Ellsworth

The Red Wing 12 AA Aces bats came out smokin' on Monday night at the Athletic Field in their 8-5 victory over Ellsworth.   Zach Harding after showing a bunt on the first pitch came back and hit a one hop double off the fence to start the hitting parade for the Aces in the top of the first inning..   Harding advance to 3rd on a wild pitch and scored on a deep sacrafice fly by Teddy Tauer.   Setih Yeatman followed with a shot to left center, Grand Rolen hit a double to deep center and scored on a great two-strike hit by Tre Moore.    The Aces led 3-1 after one inning. 

The Aces then scored 5 runs in the 3rd inning with seven straight hits to start the inning.    Eric Schauss began the inning with a hard shot down the 3rd base line for a single, Harding followed with another solid hit and then Tauer hit a drive off the bottom of the right field fence for a 2 run triple.   Yeatman, Rolen, Teddy Lillico,  and Moore all followed with singles to bring in the remaining 3 runs.  

Harding finished the game 3 f 3 and stung the ball hard all night.   Yeatman, Rolen and Moore all finished with two hits.   Tauer finished with 3 RBI.   Jack and Mac Maroushek also provided a hit apiece.  

Grant Rolen, Teddy Tauer and Seth Yeatman each pitched two innings on the mound.   The Aces improve to 1-1 in Region 3 and 2-1 overall on the season.   The Aces travel to Eagan on Thursday night for an 8 pm tilt.  

 

Aces Split to Start the Season

The Red Wing 12AA Aces opened their season on Wednesday night and were very flat with a 4-3 loss to Lake City.  The Aces were not aggressive with the bats or in the field and it cost them their first game.   Grant Rolen, Teddy Tauer and Seth Yeatman each pitched two innnings and had no earned runs.   They struck out 10 on the night.   

The Aces only managed 4 hits.   Seth Yeatman led the way with two hits, while Zach Harding and Ethan Kaiser each had one.   Lake City made all of the plays defensively which included 5 assists by SS Marc Kjos.  Lake City improved to 2-0 on the season.   

The Aces came back on Thursday night with a much better effort in a non-league game versus East Ridge.   Mac Maroushek sparked the Aces with leadoff single in the bottom of the first, which set the tone at the plate for the rest of the night.   Tre Moore hit a triple to right center in the second inning and the Aces pounded out 10 hits on their way to a 10-7 victory over the Raptors.   Mac Maroushek, Grant Rolen and Tre Moore each had two hits.   Logan Sammon, Seth Yeatman, Teddy Tauer, Ethan Kaiser and Eric Schauss all had a hit a piece.   Tre Moore, Zach Harding, Coby Castner, Teddy Lillico and Jack Maroushek all logged time on the mound.   

The Aces (1-1) return to action on Monday night when they host undefeated Ellsworth at Athletic Field #1.
